Teaching English to newcomers to Canada (Surrey)

1.  Teaching English to newcomers to Canada (Surrey) -- Cindy Lee (contact person)

My name is Cindy and I coordinate the Options Literacy Program at Options Community Services in Surrey. We offer English classes to newcomers from pre-literacy to advanced level. We've been lucky enough to have had and still have retired teachers volunteering with us. They are dream volunteers bringing all their expertise, experience and passion for teaching. However, to meet the growing demands for our classes, we are needing more qualified volunteer facilitators and tutors. I wonder if some of your members might be interested in volunteering to teach or tutor at our agency. We realize all of your members are well qualified and experienced, but we still provide volunteer orientation as well as ongoing support once they start working with us. We are especially in need of someone who can teach English through activities like cooking or sewing.

Attached is the volunteer position posting. I would appreciate it if you could promote our volunteer teaching opportunities to your members.  If you have any questions of concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Thank you in advance for your assistance in recruiting more volunteer teachers for us.
